5 Important Questions to Ask Your BPO Provider Before Signing a Contract

BPO, or Business Process Outsourcing, enhances your deliverables and your business model. Letting other firms handle mundane tasks or tasks outside of your expertise provides a way to add value to your products or services while saving staff time on your end. In today’s blog post, Akorbi discusses five important questions to ask your BPO provider before signing a contract.

1. How quickly can you integrate technology?

The odds are high that you may need to integrate some aspects of technology between a BPO provider’s computer system and yours. Have your tech people talk to their tech people and see what needs both companies have. Integrating technology may be as simple as allowing access to your Google Drive folders. Integration could be as complex as several API points that require customized coding.

2. How long does it take to onboard everything?

Not only does the BPO provider need to integrate technology, but it may also need to onboard or train employees to make the business process work to your standards. Make sure you ask how long it should take to get employees up to speed with your business model.

3. Do you have discounts for longer contracts?

Hiring a BPO provider is all about cost-effectiveness. Otherwise, you would perform these tasks in-house. Ask your provider about discounts for longer contracts. For example, a provider might charge $500 a month for a six-month contract, but just $425 a month for a 12-month contract. You’re essentially saving $900 on the second six months if you sign a long-term deal with this scenario.

4. Do you have any customer reviews and samples?

Always ask for customer reviews. A BPO provider should have names, phone numbers, and emails from their clients to give you. Feel free to contact these people to get accurate and honest assessments of the company’s work. Detailed samples of a provider’s work should show how the firm can tailor projects to your process.

5. How long have you been in business?

You don’t necessarily want to hire a fly-by-night company that started operating a month ago. You need a proven industry leader with years of experience for the process you want to outsource. While a newer company may be less expensive, you get what you pay for. Look for a BPO provider with at least 10 years of experience behind them. Ten years indicates that they have long-term clients and revenue streams to maintain their particular business model.
